Hadrian’s Wall
Hadrian’s wall is a World Heritage site. Emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of the wall across northern England but the reason is uncertain; at the time it marked the most northern part of the Roman empire and it may have been intended to keep out the Barbarians or simply to demonstrate the might of the Romans . The wall runs coast-to-coast across 84 miles of some of the wildest and most dramatic countryside in England.
